Double Masking The Reformer Collection - The Routine

The Reformer Routine · Full Guide

The double-masking ritual, in full.

A complete guide to using the Reformer Face Mask and the Reformer Under-Eye Mask together as one coordinated weekly routine — what to do, when to do it, how often, and what to expect. The same protocol our independent-study participants followed to produce the results recorded across our product pages.

The Philosophy

Two formulas, one coordinated session.

Most skincare routines are sequential — one product, then the next, then the next. The Reformer Collection is built differently. The Face Mask and the Eye Mask are designed to be layered at the same time, in a single fifteen-to-twenty-minute session, two to three times a week. We call this technique double masking, and it is the protocol the products were engineered around.

The two formulas were specifically built not to interfere with one another. The Face Mask is biocellulose, powered by NAD+, NMN, and creatine for cellular renewal across the whole face. The Eye Mask is hydrogel, powered by SYN-AKE peptide, retinol, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide for the structural realities of the eye area. Different substrates, different active strategies, no shared hero ingredients to compete. The result is a routine that addresses your full face in one coordinated session, not two separate ones.

The Step-By-Step

Five steps. Fifteen to twenty minutes.

01

Cleanse

Start with freshly cleansed, towel-dry skin across the full face and eye area. Use your regular cleanser — nothing exfoliating, nothing acidic. The skin should feel comfortable and slightly damp.

Do not apply serums, treatments, or eye creams before the masks. The masks themselves are the treatment.

Why this matters A clean barrier with no competing products is what lets the mask actives penetrate as deeply as the substrate is designed to deliver them. Layering serums underneath dilutes the benefit and risks leaving residue between the mask and the skin.
02

Place The Eye Masks First

The Eye Masks go on first. Peel each hydrogel patch from its backing carefully, and position one under each eye with the curved edge tracking along the orbital bone. The wider, more contoured end sits at the inner corner of the eye.

Smooth the patches into place gently with the pad of a clean finger. Do not pull or drag — the gel adheres on its own once warmed by your skin.

Why this matters The Eye Masks placed first sit flat against the skin with no competing fabric on top of them. Adding the Face Mask after gives a second occlusive layer over the Eye Masks that helps them stay in position and seals their actives against the skin.
03

Layer The Face Mask Over Top

Open the Face Mask pouch and remove the biocellulose sheet. Unfold it carefully — it is delicate and pre-cut to fit the contours of an adult face. Place the sheet onto your face with the cut-outs aligned to your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Smooth the sheet outward from the centre with your fingertips so it sits flush against your skin, contouring gently around the Eye Masks that are already in place underneath. Press lightly to make sure there are no air pockets between the mask and the skin.

Why this matters The biocellulose substrate is designed to hold serum against the skin under its own weight, so the only thing that should sit between it and your face is the Eye Mask material at the orbital bone. A flush fit is what produces the cellular-energy delivery the formula is engineered for.
04

Rest For Fifteen To Twenty Minutes

Lie back somewhere comfortable. The masks should stay in place for fifteen to twenty minutes — long enough for the cool of the Eye Masks to settle, not so long that the biocellulose begins to dry.

Close your eyes if you can. This is the moment in the routine where the actives are doing their slowest, most cumulative work, and it is also the only fifteen minutes of the week where the brand asks you to do nothing.

What you will feel A subtle cooling sensation from the hydrogel under each eye, settling gradually into the skin. The biocellulose will feel like a second skin and may go slightly translucent as it warms to body temperature. Both effects are expected.
05

Lift Both, Press In, Continue

When the time is up, lift the Eye Masks first by their thicker end, then peel the Face Mask off gently from the bottom upward. Discard both.

The skin will still be wet with the remaining serum. Do not rinse it off. Press whatever is left into the skin gently with clean fingertips — the pad of the ring finger for the under-eye area, the full palm for the rest of the face. Continue with your regular moisturiser and any night treatments you already use, or with sunscreen if the routine is happening in the morning.

Why this matters The serum that remains on the skin after mask removal is the most concentrated portion of the active payload. Rinsing it away washes off the part of the routine that does the deepest work. Pressing it in allows the skin to absorb whatever was not delivered during the wear time itself.
The Cadence

How often, and why that often.

The Reformer routine is built around a specific weekly cadence. Following it produces the results the studies recorded. Doing it less produces a slower curve; doing it more produces no extra benefit.

The Sweet Spot

Two to three sessions per week.

This is the protocol both studies used. Allows the skin enough recovery time between active sessions, and produces the compounding benefit across an eight-week cycle.

The Minimum

Once a week, consistently.

If life makes more frequent use difficult, once a week consistently is more valuable than three sessions in one week followed by nothing for a month. Skin care is a slope, not a sprint.

The Maximum

No more than four sessions per week.

Going past this produces no additional benefit and may sensitise reactive skin. The actives need wear time to do their work, but the skin needs rest time to use the result.

The Occasions

When to reach for the routine.

The Weekly Anchor

The most important slot in the routine is the regular weekly session, performed at the same time on the same day each week. Most people find Sunday evening works best — the routine becomes a quiet ritual that resets the week. Whatever day you pick, keep it consistent for the first eight weeks.

The Pre-Event Session

The evening before a wedding, a photograph, an interview, or any morning that demands you look more rested than you feel, add an additional session on top of your normal cadence. The de-puffing and brightening effects of the Eye Mask are most visible in the first ninety minutes after removal, and the biocellulose Face Mask’s hydration peaks at roughly the same window. Storing the unopened Eye Mask patches in the refrigerator for thirty minutes beforehand deepens the cool sensation and the visible decongestion.

The Recovery Session

The day after a long flight, a short night, a high-sodium meal, or a particularly stressful week, the routine functions as a reset. Skin that is dehydrated, puffy, or visibly tired benefits from a single session even outside the normal weekly cadence. Avoid stacking with strong actives (retinols, acids) the same evening — the Eye Mask already contains retinol.

The Travel Session

If travelling internationally or to a high-altitude climate, pack the masks individually. The hydrogel Eye Masks are TSA-compatible and weigh almost nothing, and a single Face Mask occupies less space than a paperback book. Used the evening of arrival, the routine helps the skin adapt to the new humidity and pressure conditions.

Questions About The Routine

What people actually ask.

Can I separate the two masks instead of double masking?

Yes. Some people prefer to alternate evenings — Face Mask on Monday, Eye Mask on Tuesday, and so on. Both produce results across the study window. Double masking is the most efficient use of time; alternating is the most spread-out use of actives. Pick whichever fits your week better.

Should I do the routine in the morning or the evening?

Either works. The evening session is the most popular because the skin is finishing its day and the actives can work uninterrupted overnight. The morning session has a different benefit — the immediate de-puffing and brightening effects are most visible in the first ninety minutes, which is useful before a meeting, an event, or a photograph. Follow with sunscreen if it is a morning session.

Can I use my regular eye cream and serums alongside the routine?

Yes, on the days you are not using the masks. On mask days, the masks replace your eye cream and serum — layering them underneath dilutes the actives and produces no additional benefit. After mask removal, your normal moisturiser and any night treatments you use can be applied as usual.

Can I do this routine after Botox or filler?

The in-spa Face Pilates treatment cannot be performed within seven days of Botox or fourteen days of filler. The Reformer at-home routine is a topical-only protocol with no mechanical manipulation of the face, so the timing is less restrictive — but if you have just had injectables, wait at least 24 to 48 hours and follow your provider’s specific aftercare guidance.

Is the routine safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The Reformer Under-Eye Mask contains retinol, and retinol is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding on the recommendation of most obstetricians. The Face Mask is retinol-free and is generally considered safe during these periods. However, every situation is individual — consult your obstetrician or healthcare provider before introducing any new skincare during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Can I use the masks after laser, microneedling, or a chemical peel?

Both formulas are fragrance-free and alcohol-free, the profile dermatologists generally recommend post-procedure. However, retinol (in the Eye Mask) is typically not advised in the first week after most aesthetic procedures. Follow your provider’s specific aftercare protocol and reintroduce the routine when they advise — usually after the barrier has fully recovered.

What do I do if my skin reacts?

Stop using the product immediately, do not reintroduce it for at least a week, and treat the reactive area with a simple barrier moisturiser (no actives). Once the reaction has fully resolved, reintroduce one mask at a time — usually the Face Mask first, as it does not contain retinol. If the reaction recurs, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. Reactions to either Reformer formula are uncommon based on study data, but skin is individual and any product can sensitise any given person.
