SKIN SCIENCE BEHIND FACE PILATES MASKS
FACE PILATES SUPPORTS TISSUE HEALTH
Your skin is your largest organ and is made up of a combination of tissues and body systems that contribute to its health, functioning, and outside appearance.
YOUR LOOKS COME FROM THE INSIDE OUT
SKIN HEALTH AFFECTS SKIN LOOKS
A healthy body achieved though proper diet, supplementation, and exercise appears more aesthetic. Not only do you feel better, you look better no matter your body size and shape. The same is true for your face and skin. The healthier the cells and tissues are on the inside, the better they will function and feel, and the better they will look.
However, most of skin care bypasses skin health and focuses on band-aid solutions that make the skin appear healthy - for a bit. Face Pilates takes the long view to give you real, long term results by supporting skin health.
THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR SKIN
SKIN CELLS & LAYERS
Your skin is made up of three main layers: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (subcutaneous tissue).
The epidermis is the outermost layer and the most important cosmetically. This layer gives the skin texture, moisture, colour, and light reflection. This layer makes the difference between whether your skin looks dull and feel rough or radiant and smooth.
This is the layer that is targeted by most skin care products to give you instant, visible results. This is temporary because the life cycle of skin cells ("keratinization") produces new cells, pushes them up, and pushes away old cells.
For long term, lasting results, products and treatments have to target the epidermis and the dermis.
THE SKIN LAYER THAT FACES THE WORLD
THE EPIDERMIS
Keratinocytes are the cells that make up most of the epidermis. These cells provide structural support and physical protection against toxins and pathogens - they form your skin barrier. These cells also prevent water loss, respond to stressors, and can sense peptides. Keratinocytes also help form your extra cellular matrix - the proteins, including collagen, that support skin structure and hydration.
POWER STATIONS OF CELLS
MITOCHONDRIA
Most of your cells, including your skin cells have an organelle called the mitochondria. This is the powerhouse of the cell and plays a central role in health and beauty. Mitochondria are responsible for energy production, and they are the primary organelle affected by intrinsic and extrinsic aging factors. They produce ATP, which is the currency of cell functioning.
ATP is produced though a chemical process called “oxidative phosphorylation”, which is a series of chemical reactions in our mitochondria called the Krebs cycle.
Energy is needed for cells to divide, differentiate, repair, clean up their environment, and produce the extra cellular matrix and proteins. When mitochondria don’t work well, your skin ages. If you don’t produce enough ATP, your skin can’t “pay” the cost of looking good and being healthy. There are no known ingredients that repair mitochondria, so you have to work on supporting their health and preventing damage.
HOW MITOCHONDRIA MAKES ENERGY
KREBS CYCLE
The Krebs cycle is series of enzymatic reactions in the mitochondria that create ATP, the energy currency of a cell. The cycle’s intermediary products can also be used to create other products, removing them from availability in energy production. If your cells have a shortage of these intermediary or supportive molecules, then energy production slows down and your cells can’t function properly.
Three key ingredients in ATP production are NAD+, NMN, and creatine. NAD+ is a crucial coenzyme for energy production. More NAD+ means more energy and healthier cells, as well as better BNA repair and protein production. NMN acts as a backup supply and can quickly be turned into NAD+, and improves energy regulation. Creatine supports energy production by making sure ATP production doesn’t slow down and quickly turns ATD into ADP and acts as energy storage for the cell.
GIVING YOUR CELLS THE ENERGY TO KEEP YOUNG
FACE PILATES REFORMER MASKS SUPPORT ATP PRODUCTION
Face Pilates Reformer face masks contain clinically relevant concentrations of NAD+, NMN, and creatine to support mitochondrial health and energy production. This way, we support your cells own efforts to be healthy and looks its best. With more energy, your cells produce more collagen, retain more water, and repairs themselves to look their best.
Face Pilates Reformer face mask support inner health to give you outer beauty.
